SAN JOSE — Detectives are investigating a shooting early Monday morning that killed a man near Alum Rock Avenue and Highway 101, according to San Jose police.

The shooting was reported at 4:42 a.m. in the 1500 block of Alum Rock, just east of the freeway ramps, police said. The victim, described only as an adult male, died at the scene.
