Contra Costa County residents will be required to adhere to an 8 p.m. curfew beginning Tuesday night that will stay in effect until further notice, county officials said.
The county’s Board of Supervisors passed the local proclamation at an emergency meeting Tuesday morning, county spokeswoman Susan Shiu said. The decision came in the wake of protests and looting in the downtown Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill areas that have been part of a nationwide explosion over the death of George Floyd last week at the hands of four Minneapolis police officers.
