Coronavirus cases edged up Wednesday in the Bay Area as California overall topped 100,000 cases. As of  3 p.m. Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco had reported a total of 168 new cases and one new death.

The death was reported by Santa Clara County, where 140 people have now died after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.
