What a strange season of “American Idol.” Not only did the coronavirus outbreak force producers to rely on new-look, at-home performances, but the show seems to be in a rush for some reason.

Last week’s Top 11, for example was slashed to just seven for tonight’s performances and then — boom — the finale is set for next week. What? Already!?
