Four Bay Area counties saw the grim list of deaths from the novel coronavirus grow Thursday, while a fifth closed in on nearly 1,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19, health officials said.

Four more people died in Santa Clara County; three died in Alameda County and two each were added to the tolls in Contra Costa County and San Francisco.
