The number of initial unemployment claims totaled 328,000 in California last week, a rate that was seven times greater than a typical week in 2020 — but far below the worst week for the state since coronavirus-linked business shutdowns began, according to a new report released Thursday.
Initial jobless claims in the United States totaled 3.84 million during the week that ended on April 25, down 603,000 from the 4.44 million claims that jobless workers filed for the week that ended April 18, the U.S. Labor Department reported.
