After an unofficial nudge last week from the governor and state superintendent of schools, six Bay Area counties announced on Tuesday that schools will not reopen for the remainder of the year amid the ongoing threat of coronavirus.
The decision comes a week after campuses all over the Bay Area announced they would remain closed for in-person classes until May 1 following a letter they received from Superintendent of Schools Tony Thurmond saying schools would likely close for the year.
