California Gov. Gavin Newsom said the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state continues to grow, but modest increases in hospitalizations and patients requiring care in ICU beds have given officials a sense of optimism moving forward.
The governor said during a press briefing Monday 22,348 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in California and 687 people have now died after contracting COVID-19.
