Santa Clara County is investigating nurses’ complaints that the county-run Valley Medical Center failed to notify them about a deadly coronavirus outbreak among the hospital’s staff.
The allegations, first reported by the Los Angeles Times Friday, came to light this week in a whistleblower complaint that claims four nurses, including two managers, in the same unit tested positive for coronavirus after another hospital employee died last month suffering from COVID-19 symptoms. The employee who died was a frequent visitor to the second-floor unit and may have become infected during a trip to Las Vegas in mid-March.
