Thursday began with California going past 10,000 cases and ended with it inching past 11,000.

By Friday morning, there were 11,163 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the state, with much of the growth centered in Southern California. The statewide death toll also climbed close to 250, with 75 dead in the Bay Area, according to data compiled by this news organization.
