Coronavirus: Tesla, Apple, Facebook hammered in stock market rout

U.S. stocks, including those of notable Bay Area companies such as Apple, Tesla, Intel and Facebook, plunged into the red as soon at markets opened Thursday as investors reacted negatively to President Trump placing a ban on travel to and from most of Europe that’s part of an effort to stop the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by as much as 2,200 points, or or more than 8%, to fall to 21,355.90 shortly after trading began. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite Index were taking it just as badly, as both market gauges fell by 7%.
