Health officials on Tuesday confirmed 17 new cases of the potentially fatal COVID-19 diseases in Santa Clara County, bringing the total number of cases to 155.

The new cases were announced a day after the number of coronavirus-related deaths in the county doubled from two to four, and the same day as seven Bay Area counties, including Santa Clara, instituted a shelter-in-place mandate to stop the spread of the disease.
