SUNNYVALE – Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers were not exposed to novel coronavirus when they gave CPR to a dying 72-year-old man they later learned had been on a cruise with others suspected of having the disease, authorities said Friday.

On Thursday, seven officers were dispatched to a medical call for an unconscious man who was not breathing. He died despite their efforts, which included chest compressions but not mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
