U.S. stocks had a rough go of it Friday, with the shares of Bay Area companies such as Apple, Intel and Tesla losing more ground as concerns increased about the number of coronavirus cases growing in California and across the country.
Not even a better-than-expected jobs report, and a drop in the nation’s unemployment rate, could spur the stock market higher. Before trading began, the Labor Department said the U.S. economy added 273,000 jobs in February, compared to estimates of 175,000 new non-farm jobs, and the unemployment rate fell to 3.5%.
