A Palo Alto couple who had gone missing for about a week near Chicken Ranch Beach has been found alive, the Marin County Sheriff’s department announced on Twitter Saturday morning.

The disappearance of Carol Kiparsky, 77, and Ian Irwin, 72, had baffled searchers, and the extended vanishment from their Via de la Vista Road cottage in Inverness on Valentine’s Day had left even their son, Jonas Irwin, without much hope.
