A 5.1-magnitude quake rocked an area near the Nevada-California line that has experienced a recent surge of seismic activity.

In the first 15 minutes after the quake, at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday, seven aftershocks from 2.5 to 4.3 were recorded, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
