Jeannie Mai’s stint on “Dancing with the Stars” has come to a sudden and unexpected end due to an urgent health concern.

The San Jose native and co-host on “The Real” has been hospitalized and forced to withdraw from Season 29 of the ABC competition series, “Good Morning America” reported on Monday morning. Mai has been diagnosed with epiglottitis, a potentially life-threatening condition of the throat that can cause swelling and block air to the lungs.
