Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said Monday that he expects the company to do nothing less than “encourage new ways of looking at the world” with a new subscription television offering called Apple TV+ that was the highlight of a company event dedicated to Apple’s services business.
Cook and other Apple officials took the stage at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple’s “Spaceship” headquarters in Cupertino to say Apple TV+ will go live in the fall, but didn’t disclose how much the service will cost. And unlike other internet-based subscription TV service like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, which offer a mix of original programs and content from other outlets, none of the Apple officials mentioned anything about Apple TV+ carrying anything other than content produced exclusively for Apple.
