As a powerful “atmospheric river” storm continues to march toward the California coast Tuesday morning, meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Monterey are warning about “rapid and large rises” on many of the Bay Area’s rivers and creeks.
With satellite images showing massive plumes of moisture over the Pacific taking aim at Northern California, the weather service said coastal hills and mountains in the Bay Area “will see prolific rain totals” likely exceeding 8 inches by the end of the storm.
