Netflix may have been riding high of late due to the success of such hit original films as “Bird Box” and “The Christmas Chronicles.” But the streaming TV giant found out Thursday that some victories aren’t as resounding as hoped.

Netflix reported its fourth-quarter results, and for the three months that ended in December, it added 8.84 million paid subscribers worldwide. Of that total, Netflix added 1.5 million paid subscribers in the United States, and 6.1 million more in its international markets.
