GREENWICH — The International Space Station. NASA Johnson Space Center. Sacred Heart of Greenwich. World-renowned astronaut Peggy Whitson included the school in her orbit Monday, when she encouraged girls to be the next space explorers.

“I’m pleased that I can be a role model for these girls,” Whitson said. “I know some of these ladies will be walking on the moon, or on Mars, or on Europa, or on some new discovery that we do. I’m very excited for them — I think the space industry is on a precipice of big change and they’ll get to be a part of that.”
