On Aug. 10. Infrared data from NASA's Aqua satellite analyzed temperature data in the clouds of the former hurricane that showed warm cloud tops and little precipitation.
At 4:45 a.m. EDT (0845 UTC) the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, or MODIS, instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite analyzed Tropical Storm John's cloud top temperatures in infrared light.
