A city reflected: https://www.pexels.com/photo/reflection-of-buildings-on-body-of-water-1121782/Today there are two common approaches to the study and practice of Information Architecture.

There is Little IA, which emerged from library science. This approach uses the tools of labels, navigation, and taxonomies to help people understand where they are within a website and how to navigate efficiently to where they want to go. These information architects work on a broad array of websites, but whether it is billing codes on a hospital’s website, a pair of shoes on a retail store’s web page, or a research paper in an academic database, the viewpoint towards web pages remains the same: websites should be optimized for swift navigation through them.
