This post describes how to set up a Dell U3417W monitor to be used by two computers.

I am particular about input devices: natural keyboard, magic trackpad etc, and I use multiple computers, so I usually use a KVM switch to share the I/O devices (keyboard, monitor, headset) among two or more computers. Some of the monitors nowadays come with KVM switch built in, so we can share it among computers without a KVM switch and a lot of extra wires. As shown below, I share a Dell U3417W curved monitor and input devices between a MacBook and a Linux laptop, and use the buttons under the right bottom of the monitor to switch between computers.
