Why even bother with self-teaching? Thoughts on dynamic planning and goal setting

Goal setting is important. A good friend of mine told me a plan without a goal is just a wish. It’s completely true. The idea is simple and true. However, how many ideas out there are simple in their nature but very difficult to put into practice? Quite a few by my count, at least as far as my experience tells me. So the key to tackling this complexity, like most things, is a little balance, adaptability, and finding that sweet spot all while keeping that plan dynamic enough so that it survives the many iterations it will go through. My game plan just went through its first major iteration and its hard to put into words how exciting it was. But also it got me thinking, why go through this arduous process of planning and re-planning then growing, then planning again….I’m getting mentally exhausted just thinking about it. Well its very worth it as far as I can tell. And here’s why.
Like most well taught lessons, this will include an example to center our idea around. In this case, I will speak about the value of a fluid plan centering it around the evolution of my plan to become a developer. Lets take this one step at a time to help explain the iterations my plan has gone through. This will help to show, in brutal vulnerable detail, just how ugly a plan can be when it starts and how it can progressively become fine tuned as you go. Don’t ever let perfection be the enemy of execution. I would also like to warn this post does not conclude in a beautiful ending, with me riding off into the sunset with the perfect plan executed. Not even close. This is just to show briefly the value of being fluid in how make and execute a plan.
