The latest update for Fortnite Battle Royale adds vending machines to the game that will sell players randomized loot. At first glance, that might sound a bit loot box-y, but Fortnite’s new vending machines look more like an easy way to spend surplus in-game materials (not real-world money) in the hopes of scoring something good.
According to Epic’s latest patch notes for Fortnite — the developer describes this as a content update, a weekly refresh of the game that won’t require a totally new patch — vending machines will be scattered throughout the game. Each machine will offer three different deals, with rarity and items offered at random.
