[Update:It's been a while since we've heard anything about the development process of Final Fantasy 7 from Square Enix. And while we still haven't really had an update, we do know that the studio is hiring "core" team members for the game in Tokyo (Via Kotaku). Given that Final Fantasy 7 was first announced in 2015, this does seem quite late in the day to be hiring core team members with level design skills. However, it's still difficult to determine what stage the game is at. 

We are, however, hopeful that some new footage will make an appearance at this year's E3.]
