Star Wars Battlefront II sales are expected to bounce back following weaker-than expected sales, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter predicts.
While the Battlefront II loot box controversy and progression system has hurt initial domestic sales, Pachter believes that sales will pick up again due to the game’s appeal, and the recent release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. “The sell-off in recent weeks appears overdone,” the analyst wrote in a note to investors. “Although Star Wars Battlefront II had a weaker-than-expected debut in terms of its domestic physical sell-through, we believe that the loyalty of the Star Wars fan base, the game’s appeal as a holiday gift, and the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15 will result in sales of the game bouncing back in the December retail month”, he added.
