We now know that Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are pretty out of this world, what with the focus on interdimensional travel and all. That inspiration carries over to the designs of the series’ biggest monsters, the terrifying Ultra Beasts.

These not-quite-Pokémon play a big part in the original Sun and Moon stories. (We got a bigger glimpse of the extent of their strangeness from concept art released in March.) But the three new monsters introduced or further detailed in today’s trailer are something else. Whether you’re fighting a wall of sentient bricks or a creature that attacks with its own exploding head, these Ultra Beasts are stranger than your average Pokémon. (Which says a lot, considering things like Mimikyu exist.)
