Bethesda delivered what was perhaps the biggest surprise during yesterday’s explosive Nintendo Direct. Bethesda announced that both DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be available for the Nintendo Switch; the former will launch this Holiday season, while the latter is coming out on the hybrid console next year.

No further information has been released so far, but it’s a safe bet that this is possible thanks to the scalability of the id Tech 6 engine (powering both games) as well as the fact that Nintendo Switch fully supports Vulkan, which proved to deliver a significant boost in performance in DOOM. That said, it will be interesting to see whether DOOM can run at 60 frames per second in this port.
