New Final Fantasy VII Remake screenshots have been released today by Square Enix, showcasing playable characters, locations, and the Materia system.

The new screenshots, which can be checked out below, showcase Barret, Tifa, and Aerith in battle, as well as the Ifrit summon and even the Materia system, which will work not too differently from the same system found in the original game. It’s been confirmed that Materia will be divided into different types like in the original, such as Magic Materia, Command Materia, Independent Materia, and Summon Materia. Judging from the screenshots, Magic Materia will boost the magic but worsen strength.
