Following a hot launch, Apex Legends’ popularity has been fading in recent weeks, with many pointing to a lack of compelling new content as the cause. Despite this, Respawn co-founded Vince Zampella has vowed to stick to seasonal, rather than weekly, updates, a somewhat charged statement in light of reports of ongoing punishing crunch at Fortnite developer Epic Games.
Following Zampella’s statements, Respawn producer Drew McCoy has released a more in-depth blog post, detailing the studio’s future plans for Apex Legends. McCoy reiterates Zampella’s promise to stick to less-frequent “thoughtful” updates, and provides some info about what fans can look forward to. Season 2 will include a new Legend, weapon, and an update for the game’s King’s Canyon map. McCoy also promises the next Battle Pass will include more “meaningful content,” after many players accused to the first pass of being boring.
