Oculus will release a new stand-alone virtual reality headset — meaning it won’t require a separate PC or mobile device — called Oculus Quest in the spring of 2019. The company announced the new device, which will retail for $399 for a 64 GB model, Wednesday at Oculus Connect.
The Oculus Quest will offer six degrees of freedom, won’t require external sensors and will work with the company’s Touch controllers, according to an official announcement. The Quest will use the same optics as Oculus Go, the company’s existing all-in-one VR headset, with a display resolution of 1600x1440 per eye. Oculus promises improved built-in audio for the Quest, with “high-quality, immersive sound with even deeper bass.”
