Speaking with Gamespot at Gamescom 2018, Yves Guillemot confirmed that there won’t be a brand new Assassin’s Creed game in 2019. He had promised the franchise wasn’t going back to the annual release cycle and it looks like Ubisoft is sticking to this new plan.

On Assassin’s Creed, we had Origins in 2017 and we have Odyssey this year, but we are not going to have a full-fledged Assassin’s next year. It’s just because the team were working separately, so we have two games now, one year after the other. But next year you’re not going to have a fully fledged one.
