After Nintendo revealed a handful of new characters all at once during the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct presentation earlier this month, we weren’t sure if we’d have to wait until December to actually see them in action. Nintendo’s Japanese YouTube account now has footage of several of these fighters, however — most notably King K. Rool, the fan-favorite Donkey Kong Country villain.

Two different gameplay videos are up on the channel, and we recommend at least watching the match between K. Rool and Snake. Solid Snake returns after a decade-long absence, having last appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl; but for all intents and purposes, the Metal Gear Solid veteran feels like a new character, now that he’s been rebalanced and given some gameplay tweaks. But he’s not the one to root for in the fight against K. Rool, as long as you want to see how bizarre and varied K. Rool’s moveset is.
