A reimagining of the series' sole Game Boy installment, Metroid II, Samus Returns takes the bounty hunter to the Metroid homeworld of SR388 on a mission to eradicate the monsters. It's also notable for being the first new side-scrolling Metroid game in more than a decade, since Metroid: Zero Mission released for Game Boy Advance back in 2004.
