Resident Evil 2 finally hits store shelves today, and I can confirm that it’s a very nice-looking game, at least from an artistic standpoint. But how does the game hold up on a technical level? Well, the dedicated pixel counters at Digital Foundry have taken the game for a spin on all the available consoles, and the results are a somewhat mixed bag. Check out the full analysis, below.

First, resolution – Resident Evil 2 runs at 1080p on both the base PS4 and Xbox One S, which is better than you see with a lot of games, although the Xbox version has a somewhat blurrier look. The Digital Foundry guys speculate the S version is suffering from an imperfect uprez solution/reconstruction filter. Meanwhile, both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions run at 1680p, although in this case the Xbox version is slightly cleaner, as the PS4 Pro has some slight anti-aliasing and specular shimmer issues.
