The 2003 film had Bloom playing Will Turner, a blacksmith, who joins forces with Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) to rescue Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) from pirates. The pirates kidnapped her because they suspected she had Turner's medallion, which plays a key role in ending a curse that had been placed on the swashbucklers.
