In its latest attempt to clean up growing blight across the city, San Jose officials plan to levy hefty fines against those who might decide to illegally discard unwanted items, debris or even furniture on the side of roadways.
The San Jose City Council on Tuesday night unanimously approved an increase in illegal dumping fines to $10,000 for first and subsequent offenses. The city’s current fines for illegal dumping are $2,500 for the first offense, $5,000 for the second offense and $10,000 for the third or more offense.
