While firefighters continued to mop up the fires that have ravaged three corners of the Bay Area, many residents began to head home to see if what they left last week was still there after the flames were extinguished.

With at least 136,000 people evacuated around California, the repopulation timeline could be still be weeks, not days, for those in the most affected areas. Altogether, the blazes have burned more than 800,000 acres and damaged or destroyed more than 2,000 structures. Six deaths have been attributed to the fires.
