Five counties in Southern California accounted for more than 70% of the newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state Tuesday, including more than half in Los Angeles County alone.
The 10-county Bay Area, home to about 8 million of California’s 40 million residents, added 152 new cases Tuesday, or about 9% of the statewide increase, which brought the total case count to more than 70,000, according to data compiled by this news organization.
