A blast of hot weather roasted inland parts of the Bay Area Tuesday, breaking a record-high temperature in at least one East Bay city while upping the region’s risk of wildfire.
The fast-and-fleeting heat wave — which could begin to subside as soon as Wednesday — sent temperatures soaring into the triple digits across the eastern half of the Bay Area and much of the Central Valley. It marked one of the summer’s hottest points after a relatively moderate season, keeping air conditioning repairmen busy and forcing many youth sports teams to curtail practice plans in the punishing heat.
