SAN JOSE — Police arrested a 20-year-old San Jose man in connection to a string of late-January ATM robberies in which authorities said the suspect struck victims with a gun and used stolen cars as getaway vehicles.

The suspect was accused of four robberies or attempted robberies between Jan. 22 and 30. San Jose police said in a news release that he used a semi-automatic pistol while demanding money from people using ATMs, often physically hitting them with the gun. Police say he negligently fired the weapon on one occasion.
