As Election Day nears, the San Francisco 49ers have continued to add to the pile of cash they’ve poured into the Santa Clara City Council races.

Team owner Jed York had contributed a staggering $3.8 million as of Nov. 1 to independent expenditure committees supporting Anthony Becker, Karen Hardy and Raj Chahal’s campaigns, as well as to committees opposing Lisa Gillmor’s re-election run for Santa Clara mayor. Becker is running to unseat Gillmor, and Hardy and Chahal are seeking re-election.
