SAN JOSE — A complex of nearly 100 affordable homes near downtown San Jose has taken a big step forward with the purchase of the property by the project’s developer.

Berkeley-based Resources for Community Development, acting through an affiliate, has bought a site of 0.6 acres at the corner of South Almaden Avenue and West Virginia Street in San Jose.
