In a report Sunday to the California Public Utilities Commission, the nation’s largest utility said its equipment might have caused the massive Dixie Fire burning in the Sierra Nevada about 25 miles northeast of Chico.

PG&E said that a repairman checking on a power outage near Cresta Dam saw blown fuses and a tree leaning into the electrical conductor. He also saw a fire on the ground near the base of the tree.
