Typhoon Hagibis inundated central Japan’s Nagano with flood waters as it hit the city and surrounding areas on Saturday.

Rescue efforts for people stranded in flooded areas were in full force after the powerful storm caused heavy rainfall and winds through a widespread area of island nation, including Tokyo. Thirty-five people were reported dead so far, and 17 are missing.
