BOULDER CREEK — A cluster of earthquakes shook the Santa Cruz Mountains on Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Less than 20 seconds separated the two largest quakes, which hit about 2:35 p.m. near Boulder Creek. The first, a magnitude 2.8, was centered about 12.5 miles west-northwest of the town and the second, a magnitude 2.5, was centered about 13 miles in the same direction.
