Tesla’s first quarter went as badly as expected.
The electric-car maker missed Wall Street expectations by posting a $702 million loss, or $4.10 a share, on revenue of $4.5 billion. The company’s loss followed two profitable quarters in a row, and was about flat compared to the year-ago quarter. Revenue dropped 37 percent from last quarter’s sales of $7.2 billion. In the same period a year ago, Tesla revenue was $3.4 billion.
