The lead up to E3 has had a few consistent thing: speculation about new games, questions about sequels to old favorites... and jokes about The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Since the game’s initial launch in 2011, the title’s been granted a whole suite of DLC, remastered, come out for VR, and been released on the Nintendo Switch. Todd Howard is the face of this joke; the mythos tells that he is the sole driving force pushing out release after release of Skyrim. “You will play my game,” this malicious Todd commands.
Bethseda went ahead and poked fun at the assumptions during their E3 showcase by running a short starring Keegan-Michael Key. Skyrim: Very Special Edition is on Alexa, and we get to see Key navigate the world of Skyrim through voice commands. It’s an incredibly silly bit, but it kept with the tone of the rest of the Bethseda promo in being very, very earnest.
